Association & Government Relations Summer Internship - Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association

Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association internship programs provide one-of-a-kind opportunities for students to network with stakeholders throughout the beef industry and gain valuable experience working alongside Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association staff and leadership. All experiences are paid and offer a unique platform for students to actively engage in and contribute to association happenings.


Summer 2025 opportunities include:

TSCRA Fort Worth Internship:

The Fort Worth internship is a full-time internship located at the headquarters office in Fort Worth. TSCRA will encourage students to experience a wide range of work and departments, to network with industry leaders and gain access to the agriculture industry as a whole.


General Responsibilities

  • Students will work with several departments including communications, education, events and membership.

  • Students will assist staff in the planning and preparation for the Cattle Raisers Roundup.

  • Students will be asked to attend industry trade show events, bull sales, field days and more on behalf of TSCRA.

  • Students will be asked to perform a multitude of generic office tasks such as data entry, mailings, filings and other administrative tasks.


Qualifications / Specifics

  • Must be a college student at an accredited university.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA recommended.

  • Be available mid-May to mid-August, with flexibility on school schedule and online classes.

  • Willing to relocate and live in Fort Worth, Texas, during the duration of internship.

  • Office attire is business casual, while some specific events require business attire.

  • Agricultural industry experience preferred but not required.

TSCRA Government Relations Internship:

The government relations internship is a full-time internship that requires relocation to Austin. The internship frequently requires participants to work outside of traditional business hours. Participants are expected to wear business professional attire each day.


General Responsibilities

  • Students will serve an integral role on the government relations team by advocating on behalf of TSCRA’s members at the Texas Capitol.

  • Students will regularly interact with and work closely with elected officials and their staff, and as such should always conduct themselves within a professional manner.

  • Students will assist in monitoring, analyzing, reporting and acting on legislative and regulatory issues impacting TSCRA members.

  • Students will serve as event coordinators for TSCRA’s government relations office and the Cattle Raisers PAC fundraising events.

  • Students can expect to perform operational office tasks such as answering phones, managing office supply inventory, coordinating in-office meetings, etc.


Qualifications / Specifics

  • Must be a college student at an accredited university pursuing or recently obtained degree in agriculture, political

  • science, government or a related field.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA recommended.

  • Be available mid-May to mid-August, with flexibility on school schedule and online classes.

  • Willing to relocate and live in Austin, Texas, during duration of internship.

  • Office attire is business professional most days.

  • Agricultural industry experience and knowledge of the issues affecting it preferred.

  • Strong communication, writing and organizational skills.

  • Experience working with commonly used computer hardware and software packages.
