Communication Coordinator - Dairy Girl Network

Overview: 

Dairy Girl Network (DGN) is seeking a highly organized and efficient individual to join our team as a Communication Coordinator. The Communication Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the communication initiatives and campaigns of DGN. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and verbal communication skills, as well as experience in managing media relations, content creation, and marketing. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to continuously explore and embrace marketing tactics. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Developing Communication Strategies 

    • Creating comprehensive plans to effectively communicate the organization’s messages to various stakeholders, including partners, members, and the general dairy community. 

    • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to support the organization’s goals and objectives. 

    • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns and initiatives, and adjust strategies as needed. 

    • Stay current on emerging communication technologies and trends and recommend new approaches to enhance communication efforts. 

    • Tracking media coverage, social media engagement, and other key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and make data-driven decisions for improvement. 

  • Content Creation 

    • Create engaging content for a variety of platforms, including websites, social media, press releases, newsletters, presentations, and other communication materials.  

    • This may involve crafting compelling narratives, drafting articles, and producing content. 

    • Help to coordinate communication efforts across departments to ensure consistency in messaging and branding. 

  • Social Media Management  

    • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness, engagement, and membership across all relevant platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. 

    • Manage all aspects of social media content production, including brainstorming ideas, creating content calendars, scheduling posts, and analyzing performance metrics. 

    • Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond to inquiries and comments in a timely and professional manner. 

    • Assist with our Facebook community, Exchange by Dairy Girl Network. Help to monitor conversations and posts in a professional manner. Assist with posting DGN posts and updates in the group and helping to engage conversations.  

    • Stay up to date on social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices, and incorporate them into our social media strategy. 

    • Conduct social media audits and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and areas for growth. 

    • Track and analyze key social media metrics, such as reach, engagement, and conversion rates, and use data-driven insights to optimize performance. 

  • Public Relations  

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and other members of the media. 

    • Monitor and track media coverage, social media engagement, and other key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and make data-driven decisions for improvement. 

    • Serve as the point of contact for all external communication initiatives. 

    • Organizing press conferences, product launches, promotional events, and other public relations activities to generate positive publicity and enhance the organization’s visibility. 

  • Collaboration 

    • Work closely with the Executive Officer and Operations Officer to ensure alignment of messaging and consistency in communication efforts. 

    • This role will report to the Executive Officer. 


Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in marketing, communications, digital media, social media management or a related field is preferred. 

  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging content for different social media platforms and audiences. 

  • Proficiency in using social media management tools, analytics platforms, and scheduling software; and knowledge of social media advertising platforms. 

  • Familiarity with graphic design and video editing software is a plus. 

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and metrics to drive informed decision-making. 

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for staying ahead of social media trends and best practices. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work. 

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. 


This is a part-time, contracted position within the organization of 8 to 10 hours per week.
