Communications Assistant Intern - CAST (Council for Agricultural Science and Technology)

Position Overview

We are looking for a Communications Assistant intern to support our mission of assembling, interpreting, and communicating credible, science-based information with a specific focus on international agricultural policies and governance. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of global agricultural policy, science, and communications.


Key Responsibilities

As a Communications Assistant intern, you will:

  • Research and analyze international agricultural policies, regulations, and governance frameworks

  • Monitor and report on global developments in agricultural policy and their implications

  • Assist in developing content that explains complex international agricultural issues to diverse audiences

  • Support the creation of CAST resources focusing on international agricultural challenges and solutions

  • Help coordinate with international networks of agricultural experts and stakeholders

  • Contribute to research on cross-border agricultural issues and their impact on policy decisions

  • Support the organization's efforts to bridge scientific knowledge with international policy development


Qualifications

Required:

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor's or master's program in international affairs, agricultural policy, environmental policy, or related field

  • Strong understanding of international relations and policy processes

  • Excellent research and analytical skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to understand and synthesize complex policy information

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication tools

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of global agricultural systems and international trade

  • Experience with policy analysis or research

  • Additional language skills

  • Familiarity with international organizations and governance structures

  • Understanding of scientific publication processes

  • Experience in writing for policy or technical audiences
